Hi friends!
A couple of quick things, today. Something for paid subscribers at the end of this email, but first, something everyone…
A year ago I set myself a target for where I’d like Compendia to be by October 31st this year, in terms of subscriber numbers. I was deliberately ambitious, and this Substack has grown nicely. But with just a week to go I find myself very, very nearly there, frustratingly near in fact, but not quite over the line. I’m just a handful of subscribers off my target.
So, for the next week, I’m running a special offer on the price of an upgrade to the full, paid Compendia experience. As a reminder, paid members get access to ALL the posts, including the news, essays, fiction and both the background to The Experiment and the chapters themselves. You’ll be able to read the entire archive of Writers’ Lodge posts and access all those going forwards, as well as participate in the threads etc. In addition, you’ll also get a discount on my COACHING packages, should you want more 1:1 support for your writing.
Usually this costs £5.99 per month, or £59 per year. But for one day only (today, Tuesday) I’m offering a whopping 40% off the cost of both a monthly and an annual subscription, forever.
Then, for the rest of October, I’ll be offering a still pretty impressive 20% off.
PLUS, I’ll upgrade the person whose subscription gets me over the line to the full COMPENDIA+ package, which means they will also get personalised reading recommendations, one half-hour online meeting with me, access to a fortnightly Q&A session, and regular competitions.
Now, for those who already support Compendia with a paid subscription, a quick question…
I’m considering running regular writing sessions, in which we all meet up online, have a quick chat, then write together in silence for 45 minutes or so before another quick wrap-up chat at the end. This would be available to paying subscribers only, and I’d envisage it being a monthly event. And it wouldn’t matter what you were writing — a novel, a poem, your own Substack, a shopping list…. whatever!
But obviously this would only work if sufficient numbers were interested. So, is that something that appeals?
Bye for now!
I think it’s a great idea as writing is such a lonely business
It depends...on the time. I work most weekday evenings and I know for a lot of people that’s the only time available to write. Sunday afternoons / early evenings are usually good for me and it will help motivate me to write for the rest of the week.
