Hi everyone!
This week’s #SJsTwitterBookClub featured author C J Tudor (@cjtudor), and we chatted about her brilliant, twisty debut The Chalk Man.
I asked Caroline to summarise the book for us. “A group of friends in the 80s use chalk drawings to send secret messages. Then the chalk drawings start to appear on their own & lead them to a body in the woods. 30 years later one of the gang receives a chalk drawing and a piece of chalk in the post. The game is on again!”
After an aside in which we both confessed our love for New York City and Reykjavik, we talked about music, and specifically whether we write to it (she doesn’t, I do), and also about fragrance/scent, which @joannechocolat uses to get her in the mood. We also talked about scrapping books, which Caroline has recently confessed to doing in a very honest and brave post. The discussion then turned to zombies, or specifically what scares us.
It was a fascinating discussion about a great book. Click on the above tweet to be taken to the thread, and you can catch up from there. And if you haven’t read The Chalk Man, do so now! A little-known author called Stephen King loves it, after all…
Next week, #SJsTwitterBookClub welcomes author Alex Michaelides, who’ll tell us all about his phenomenal bestseller, The Silent Patient. Not to be missed!
Happy reading!
