Last night’s #SJsTwitterBookClub featured author Nadine Matheson (@nadinematheson) who came along to talk about her brilliant thriller, The Binding Room.
Nadine told us she’d chosen that book to talk about because in it she was writing about something ‘different’. When I asked her to give us a spoiler-free intro, she said, “… a popular pastor is found murdered in his south-east London church and D.I. Henley from Serial Crimes Unit is sent with her partner to the crime scene. When searching the church, Henley finds a hidden room and in the hidden room is the body of a young man tied to a bed and he's been tortured. It turns out that he may have been the victim of an attempted exorcism and then a second body is found…”
Sounds intriguing, right? And it’s a fantastic book. I asked Nadine what was the inspiration.
I asked Nadine whether she gets many ideas through her other work, and she said,

I always love to hear about what else my guests like to read:
“I do love crime fiction but I also like to escape with a good rom-com - I do have a soft side. I'm a big comic book fan but as a kid I loved Wind in the Willows, all the Narnia's. I think that I've always been a writer at heart. I would read and say, I can do better than that”
