Hi everyone!
This week’s #SJsTwitterBookClub featured author Fiona Cummins (@FionaAnnCummins), who popped in to talk about her writing, and in particular her fantastic debut “Rattle”.
Once I’d introduced Fiona to the pleasures of the negroni (virtually) I asked her if she’d give us a spoiler-free, tweet-length introduction to the book. “It's about a sinister serial killer with a penchant for victims with unusual medical conditions,” she told us. “He 'collects' them for his museum - but he meets his match in the Frith family and DS Etta Fitzroy.”
@EllenDevonport told us how much she loved the book. “Such a good book! It played on my fear of anything happening to my daughters but also how evil can hide in plain sight.” And after @Littlemissbook6 asked us both what we liked to read we discussed genre fiction. Fiona said “I'm a big believer in the fact that genre fiction can be as beautifully written as 'literary' fiction” and I wholeheartedly agree!
We talked about process, and Fiona admitted to being a ‘pantser’ - much to everyone’s surprise…

The fifty minutes was over far too quickly - it was a fascinating and far-ranging discussion about a wonderful book. If you haven’t read it yet, do so now!
I don’t currently have anyone lined up for the next #SJsTwitterBookClub - why not let me know in the discussion who you’d like me to invite?!
Happy reading!
