Hi everyone!
This week’s #SJsTwitterBookClub featured the incredible Linwood Barclay (@linwood_barclay), chatting about his thriller Trust Your Eyes.
Described as ‘a thriller with an edge’ the book features map-obsessed Thomas who spends his days and nights on a virtual tour of the world through his computer screen. One day, while surfing a street view program, he sees something that shouldn't be there: a woman being murdered behind a window on a New York street. His brother Ray humours him with a half-hearted investigation, until he realises Thomas may have stumbled onto a deadly conspiracy, which puts them both in danger .
I asked Linwood why he’d chosen this book from his impressive backlist, and whether it was his favourite of his novels. “In many ways, yes,” he said. '“I think it's one of the best concepts I ever had, and it's a bit of an homage to my favourite movie, Rear Window.” He told us the book came together very quickly for him, and that “the Thomas character, while not based on, is somewhat informed by my brother, to whom the book is dedicated. It's a more personal book.”
Linwood also let us in on his writing process. “Usually at work by 8. Goal is 2,000 words a day. Rarely go past 3. A big-picture plotter. I know who did what and why. But the details don't get worked out until I get to them.”
Finally, after a far-reaching discussion (with lots more chat about twists!) Linwood told us about what’s next.

Join us next week (THURSDAY, 7.30pm UK time), when we’ll be keeping up the ocular theme and talking about BEHIND HER EYES, which was a recent smash hit for Netflix, with author Sarah Pinborough (@SarahPinborough).
Don’t miss it! Happy reading…
