Hi everyone!
This week’s #SJsTwitterBookClub featured author Catherine Ryan Howard (@cathryanhoward), who returned to talk about her brilliant lockdown thriller “56 Days”.
I asked Catherine for a spoiler-free tweet-length introduction to the book. She told us, “A couple meet just a few weeks before lockdown hits; decide to move in together to spend it together. Her: great way for new relationship to flourish without scrutiny/interference of friends & family. Him: great way to hide who - and what - he really is.”
I asked Catherine whether she was worried about writing a thriller set so explicitly during Covid times, given how much time can pass between a book being written and it reaching readers. “It was a huge risk. I didn't even know what was a better scenario: that Covid WOULD be ancient history by the time it came out, or still here. But apparently people are a little nostalgic for those very early days of lockdown!”
It was a fascinating discussion (click on the tweet below to see the thread). We talked about when one book seems to suddenly become more appealing than the one you’re supposed to be writing.
Take a look!
Next week #SJsTwitterBookClub is having a week off, but author Louisa Scarr (@paperclipgirl) joins us on Oct 14th to talk about LAST PLACE YOU LOOK.
Happy reading!
